Our Mission
Founded in 2014 by the True Vine Fellowship Church in Green Cove Springs, Clay County, Florida, the Vineyard Transitional Center (VTC) aims to assist individuals in need through live missions and community outreach beyond church walls. VTC meets potential clients where they are, including street corners and community walks, providing instant impact to those desperately needing a stable place to find hope and belonging.
Throughout the year, including weekends, VTC, in partnership with True Vine Fellowship, offers respite from life’s challenges to all who seek help. It supports over 50 homeless individuals weekly with meals, temporary housing, clothing, and essentials. A notable example is Jay Armstrong, who, after spending over two years homeless, was guided by VTC to employment and eventually homeownership in Green Cove Springs. His success story inspired local initiatives for affordable housing, highlighting VTC’s significant community impact.
Facing challenges like affordable housing, high rents, food insecurity, limited public transportation, and healthcare access, VTC has adapted its outreach programs, especially post-pandemic, to provide basic necessities, support, and referrals for mental health and addiction services. Its goal is to transition individuals from the streets to stable living situations, including employment and education opportunities.
In 2022, VTC notably assisted an elderly man with home repairs and a displaced young man with shelter and job search assistance. Despite the long wait for low-income housing, VTC continues its commitment to serving those in need across Clay County. A major initiative is the development of a transitional shelter at 518 Pine Street, Green Cove Springs, set to break ground early next year. This facility will offer 16 men living spaces, kitchens, and comprehensive support services aimed at reducing recidivism and promoting independence.
VTC’s mission is to eliminate homelessness and provide a holistic approach to support individuals facing various life challenges, including post-incarceration transitions. As the first transitional center in Clay County, VTC emphasizes community involvement in addressing homelessness, showcasing a collective effort to meet this socio-economic need with passion and dedication.
